Website Building – Part i

Website Design and Manufacturing

I have begun my website completing al the pages I wish to have my clients navigate to. These are as mentioned in my previous blog post;

  1. Home Page
  2. About Page
  3. Our Work
  4. Contact Page

I used to create a professional business website. From Wix, I was able to pick and chose themes, fonts, colours and much more. From the research I did before building my website, I knew I wanted to pick a minimalistic theme and when prompted for a colour scheme, I stuck with just black and white.

Home Page

The Home Page is the first thing clients see. I have continued to keep the header the same across all pages to create familiarity. The logo is centrally displayed to gain attention while browsing the website. The social media links are also prominent. The pages are all animated with a fade when scrolling up and down.

About Page

On the about page, I have described the business a little. As the business doesn’t strictly exist as of yet and to be able to do all this work single-handedly, I have described the business as being a group of university graduates. This is more realistic in terms of the business as usually a team is employed in a business like mine.

Our Work Page

On this page I have entered 4 services that business provides. These are Photography, Post-Production, Animation and Social Media Marketing. These services are just the basics and if the business was to come to life, then there could be room for expansion in its services.

Contact Page

On this page, clients can use the online form to request services. The form needs to be set up to a business account email.

Although I have got the basics already there are improvements to be made:

  • Set up social media platforms so that I can link my website to them.
  • Add descriptions to the services.
  • Set up a business account email address to use on the website.
  • I also need to begin adding my content and work to the website. Although I don’t have a broad range of content yet, I shall be using previous coursework to display on the website.
  • I can then link each service the business provides to a new page where portfolios can be found.

I am happy with my website as a starting point. It reaches the criteria of a ‘successful’ website; it’s minimalistic, easy to navigate and has the characteristics of professional site. Additionally, using a website development company like Wix means that my site is secure for its users.

One of the other things I want to do with my website is to buy a domain. The only issue is, whether I’ll make this into an actually business where buying a domain is more cost efficient, as there would be an income to pay for it. As of now, I am a student without that means so would have to decide on this at a later date. However, I do know that buying a domain is much more professional and makes it easier for search engines to find my business. For now, while only branding my business for the coursework assignment, I shall keep my free domain:
